HOME OWNERSHIP EDUCATION PROGRAM

Purpose:

We have established a comprehensive educational program for prospective home buyers. The program is for home purchases as well as Self-Help construction projects. We hold classes for citizens in Mendocino, Lake, and Humboldt Counties. Our target market is those families in the middle to lower income brackets. We encourage all members of our diverse communities to take part in the program.

Goals:

• To offer quality education in all areas of home ownership, from the desire to own a home, through the home buying process, including vital post-purchase counseling.
• To create a long term relationship with those who participate in our programs.
• To give first-time homebuyers a leg up in the home purchasing process, so they will be well prepared to not only be wise homeowners, but to become active citizen participants in our communities.
• To have our education program be a valuable asset to lenders, realtors, and businesses in our area.
• Through our partners we will make available lower cost loans and seconds to our homebuyers or Self-Help participants.
